Hans walks on with the goose under his arm. He's already looking forward to the roast that his mother will make of it. The soft feathers will make great stuffing for his pillow. In the next village, Hans meets a knife sharpener who is currently sharpening the knives of the villagers. He asks Hans where he got the beautiful goose. Hans tells him about his journey and his trades. The knife sharpener says, "You've had quite an interesting journey. How about traveling the country and always having money in your pockets? You should become a knife sharpener. Here's an offer for you. I have another sharpening stone. If you want, I'll trade it for your goose. You'll only need an ordinary fieldstone, like this one here, and you can start working." Hans says, "Yes, gladly!"
